Teach Your Children to Fish

Teach your children to fish instead of fishing for them. Many parents allow themselves to be enslaved by their children by doing everything for them even those that they can already handle. This is not good because it only spoils your children. So, instead of doing things for them, teach them the right way to do it and let them do it on their own. With this, you are building on them a sense of self-reliance and responsibility at a very early age which can be very helpful in boosting up their self esteem and self confidence.

Eat Together

With the hectic work schedule, parents usually hardly have time to eat together with their kids. If mommy is there, daddy is not there, or the other way around, or worse if both of them are not there. Since communication is necessary in the family, parents must make sure to always spend time to eat together with their children because it is indeed the best time to talk with them about what happened the entire day and to get a chance to bond with them.

Personal Child Rearing

Never in my life have I entrusted another person to rear my children. May it be to a nanny or a helper. I always assure that my child’s physical, emotional and psychological well-being will develop with me at their side. I believe that there could never be a substitute to parents spending time with their children. It’s really important for me to be involved in my child’s life so I can monitor them, know them even more and address their needs.

Let Them Play

As a parent, I provide my children with various activities that may or may not require spending a lot of money. I expose them to different kind of people and make sure not to limit their friends to those belonging to the same social strata. I want them to be competitive in sports and let them realize their strengths and weaknesses. Children will become more self-assured adults if we will allow them to explore on their own, make their own mistakes and develop their own interests and hobbies.
