Sorrows of Life

Sorrow can make us hard, bitter and resentful, or it could make us more understand, kinder, and more sympathetic. It can also take away our faith or make our faith stronger. Which of these alternatives happens will depend on what we think about God – whether He’s a tyrant who sends sorrows with no apparent reason other that his own pleasure, or a loving Father who permits us to be tested to show who we are.

What Exactly Is My Treasure?

I’ve realized that nothing on earth is worth putting our heart into in an absolute way. We might ask ourselves, “To what do I give my heart? Exactly what is my treasure? What do I usually think about?” Our heart should be placed in the Lord because He is the one real and absolute fortune. Everything we own today will someday belong to someone else. Our relationship with the Lord remains with us through life and death, even into eternity.

Philippines Ban Milk from China

The talks that have been going around that milk from China have caused small kids to have stones in their kidneys is indeed alarming. So the Philippines is now banning these milk imported from that country. Good move indeed1 Because of the rising prices, people tend to buy goods from China for they are cheaper than other brands but then these harmful effects will really cause us damage in the long run. We may stop buying now or we will suffer the consequence later on.

Kristine Hermosa’s Sexy Pictorial

In her latest sexy pictorial which seems to be her boldest and most daring shoot, Kristine Hermosa shows her most endearing beauty, charm, and sensuality. But, what is more controversial is that the pictorial was courtesy of her ex-boyfriend Diether Ocampo who personally took the shots himself. Nobody knows what Kristine felt and had in mind during the pictorial. But, whatever it is, there is no doubt Kristine shines much in her pictures. In fact, she is hailed as one of the most beautiful faces in Philippine television.

Live-in or Marriage?

Some people practice live-in relationships. It is one reason to find out if they are really compatible with their partners before getting married, or may be it is the easiest way out before marriage. Well, that is true especially rather than filing an annulment or divorce which is very expensive, stressful, and depressing. I still prefer getting married with the person I love and trust. In marriage, everyday is an adjustment period and it is important that you understand each other.

Kidney Watch

Our kidneys are the most important among all our organs, I guess. That’s the very reason why I take care of my kidneys with fragility. Well, not until I learned to realize that fact. Before, I loved to eat salty food. In fact, my favorites are shrimp paste and dried fish. But after I realized how essential our kidneys are, I opted to slow down in eating those. And for my kidneys to be more healthier, my mom used to let me drink young coconut juice. She said that it helps flash out the excess salt that are filtered by our kidneys. It’s like, it cleanses the kidneys. Sad thing my mom isn’t here right now to give me my glass of coconut juice.

Making Lemon Juice Concentrate

I, for one, loved to drink lemon juice. And I believe that it would be a very good source of Vitamin C that’s very essential to boost my immune system. But sometimes, it’s just so tiring to stand-up and squeeze some lemons just to make a fresh lemon juice. So what I do is I make a lemon juice concentrate in advance. Here’s how I do it: Mix 2 cups of water and 2 cups of sugar and stir until the sugar melts. After doing so, you chill it for an hour or two. When chilled, you then add the lemon juice from 15 pieces of lemon. Then that’s it! It’s as simple as ABC.

Meat Substitute

Back in the Philippines , I once bumped into a restaurant that was new to me. It was called “Vegetarian Restaurant”. Much to my surprise, when I scrolled down their menu, I wondered why are they offering skewers, curries, steaks and stews when they claim to be a vegetarian restaurant?! After I ordered and started munching on the skewers that I ordered, I noticed that the taste is different. That’s when I realized that what I was eating is not a real meat. They call it a “veggie-meat”. It’s like gluten, a meat substitute. I was really shocked to the point that I swore, I will never go to that restaurant again!

Little By Little

When I was young, my mother gave me her prized “reader” to help me learn, just as it had helped her years earlier. I loved one particular story, never dreaming how much it would affect me years later. It was about a little boy with a small shovel. He was trying to clear a pathway through deep, new-fallen snow in front of his house. A man paused to observe the child’s enormous task. “Little boy,” he inquired, “How can someone as small as you expect to finish a task as big as this?” The boy looked up and replied confidently, “Little by little, that’s how!” And he continued shoveling.
